My nine year was recently diagnosed bi-polar a couple of months ago and since then I have been absorbing as much information as I can on the disease. Along with her medications and therapy we are also learning how we can prepare her for the future. As scary as it may seem sometimes, I have a strong hope that she will succeed. There is a vast amount of resources available to people like my daughter that were not available 10 years ago. This book has been a very interesting read in answering some of the basic questions about the disease to some of the technical ones. Like many other parents I worry about education, shelter, food, medication, etc.
This book answers so many of those questions and provides a launching pad for me to go a get the other resources that she will need in the future. I strongly recommend that all parents of newly diagnosed children with bi-polar disorder have a book like this near them. It is a wonderful resource to turn to when there is down time.
